Language - Jamaican Patois (Creole or Patwa) used in everyday speech and English (mostly used in formal contexts)
Religion - Christianity and Rastafarianism (An Abrahamic Religion which began in Jamaica in the 1930’s celebrating celebrating African culture and promoting love, unity, and respect.)
National Animal - The “Doctor Bird” otherwise known as the red-billed scissortailed hummingbird. Why is it called a “Doctor Bird? The erect black crest and tails resemble the top hat and long tail coats doctors used to wear in the old days. Other schools of thought believe that it refers to the way the birds lance the flowers with their bills to extract nectar.

For Activities for Art and drawing/origami for kids, here is my list of suggested artists. You can look on their YouTube channel and specifically search for topics like, “hummingbirds”, “tropical scene”, “palm trees” “mangoes”, “lizards”, “guitar” etc. If you and your child enjoy putting your hands into artwork - this would be a good place to start anyway. There is something for everyone no matter your “skill” level.
