This painting was born from a contest of photo submissions. The contestant’s daughter was a beautiful subject to paint. I love her tiptoeing into the water. It was a reference photo taken at the subject’s birthday party, and so she was still in her really nice dress. It pictures a simple joy of childhood life…. Tiptoeing gingerly over the rocks and into the soft oozy mud. Who can resist?
